ZM – Hootsuite – Social Media Management Tools

What is it?

Hootsuite was created in 2008 and is the management tool by famous brandings such as Coca-Cola. It is also one of the more popular social media management tools because of its time saving approach. Hootsuite allows the managing of social media channels all in one platform so as to save the hassle of remembering multiple passwords or logging in to individual social media channels whenever users want to do postings. 

Hootsuite is partnered with over thirty social networks and some popular ones are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Google+ and LinkedIn et cetera. 

Functions and Features

Like many other social media management tools, Hootsuite also consists of the basic functions like scheduling social media posts in advance. The management tool displays scheduled postings in a calendar format which makes it easy for users to track and understand. 

It also does analyzing work on responses and performances from all the postings in different social media networks by tracking on the clicks accumulated. These analyzing results are then presented in charts for easy comparison. Hootsuite also helps to provide more in depth result analysis and deliver them in professional printable layouts. 

Hootsuite has a Hootlet plug-in where the icon sits on the right hand side of the browser and users can simply click on it regardless of the webpage they are in when they want to share something from the webpage they are visiting. 

Another feature from Hootsuite is that it helps users to track keywords or terms from postings by other users. By doing so, it is enlarging a user or a business’ value because it brings them into the latest trend and conversation. The purpose of doing so is also to help bring in new clients and introduce a business’ service to their needs. 

One difficulty of managing multiple social media platforms is the customer service because each feedback, comment or review is unique from the individual customer. Tracking and replying to each one of these can prove to be tedious and inconvenient. With Hootsuite, customer service can be done under one platform without having to log in and check multiple social channels.

Messages can also be stored as draft to be replied to a customer whenever questions like store location or opening hours are asked. 

Accomodating to business plans, Hootsuite enables features for team collaboration where team members can be added to a particular social media account of your choice. This feature helps users see which member has posted a topic, which member has scheduled a posting and also allows users to edit and assign tasks. 


Hootsuite offers a free plan for one user where it includes three social channels and the ability to schedule up to 30 posts. Other plans include business and team where more than three users can have access to the platform at a price ranging from a hundred to 600 and Hootsuite users can opt for the plan that best suits their needs.
